چکیده
Sisal fiber-reinforced composites have huge potential applications in many industries. Different defects during the production process of composite may decrease performance these composites. In present work, one important such as waviness sisal fiber has been studied under compressive loading. Two types materials are considered for study. One is polymer matrix and another hybrid i.e carbon nanotube reinforced composite. The straight specimens prepared by using hand lay-up technique. buckling load estimated conducting suitable experiments.
Fiber waviness in nanotube-reinforced polymer composites—I: Modulus predictions using effective nanotube properties
Results in the literature demonstrate that substantial improvements in the mechanical behavior of polymers have been attained through the addition of small amounts of carbon nanotubes as a reinforcing phase. This suggests the possibility of new, extremely lightweight carbon nanotube-reinforced polymers with mechanical properties comparable to those of traditional carbon-fiber composites. Motiva...
متن کاملInelastic Continuum Modeling of Carbon Nanotube,s Behavior Using Finite Element Method
This paper describes a continuum model for analyzing the inelastic behavior of a single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) in different loading conditions. Because of limitations in using molecular dynamics (and other atomic methods) to model the failure load of the SWCNT, continuum mechanics methods are considered in this paper. Based on some experimental and theoretical results, an elasto-plastic...
متن کاملModeling and Estimating the Effective Elastic Properties of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Composites by Finite Element Method
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) possess extremely high stiffness, strength and resilience, and may provide the ultimate reinforcing material for the development of nanocomposites. Evaluating the effective elastic properties of such nanoscale materials is a difficult task. Modelings and simulations using continuum mechanics models can play significant roles in this development. In this paper, the nanost...

The creep behavior of basalt fiber reinforced epoxy (BFRE) and glass fiber reinforced epoxy (GFRE) composites was studied through tensile testing at high temperature. To study the effect of reinforcing epoxy, the micro glass powder (MGP) was added at various volume percentage into the epoxy resin in BFRE composites. The initial strain for all the specimens were evaluated and compared with each ...
